Have you ever wondered what businesses need to do to be a responsible investment option or how to engage companies to persuade them to adopt more socially responsible practices? Join CEP on Thursday February 23rd as we explore the world of Socially Responsible Investing. You will have the opportunity to hear from Michelle de Cordova, Director of Corporate Engagement and Public Policy at Ethical Investments/Northwest Ethical Funds, about:

·         The global landscape of responsible investment
·         SRI in the Canadian context
·         What is “engagement”, and why do we do it?
·         Engagement stories from the field

Join us for snacks and drinks at 6:00pm. The event will start at 7:00pm followed by a short 30 minute networking session after the panel presentation.

Speaker Bio

Michelle de Cordova is Director of Corporate Engagement and Public Policy at NEI Investments, the home of Ethical Funds, Canada’s oldest and largest family of SRI (socially-responsible investment) mutual funds.  Based in Vancouver, within the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Services team, Michelle leads NEI Investments’ work on engaging investee companies and policy-makers in dialogue to advance corporate sustainability in Canada and internationally. Before joining NEI Investments, she worked as a staff member and consultant for environment and social development organizations in Canada, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Connecting Environmental Professionals (CEP) is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting opportunities for networking, career development and capacity building.

Our members include working professionals, future professionals and students from government, business, not-for-profit organizations and associations. Launched in 2002, CEP Vancouver has over 650 members.

CEP is part of a national network, with chapters in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton operating under the name Young Environmental Professionals (YEP). Memberships from one chapter are recognized in all other chapters.
